As
well as being a convenient place to stopover, Woolgoolga (known as
"Woopi" to the locals) is a great family holiday location. The town
wraps itself around Main Beach which is patrolled by the local Surf
Lifesaving Club and is a safe beach for the kids. The Beach Reserve has
a playground for the young ones and BBQ and Picnic facilities, it a
great spot for the monthly markets and many community events.
The waters off Woolgoolga are popular all year round for surfing,
fishing, diving and snorkeling while the tide-washed rock platforms are
an attraction for both youngsters and marine biologists.
Woolgoolga offers some good shopping including great surf shops,
village friendly supermarkets, clubs and restaurants. An extensive
range of artworks are on display at the Woolgoolga Arts & Craft
Gallery and the town has a well equipped modern Library.
